It’s Always A No.
I’ve been successful in technology and product recruiting since 2010, and one of the many valuable lessons that sales and outreach has taught me is, it’s always a no, if you don’t ask.
This mantra and mentality can be attributed to all scenarios of your life from asking for a higher total compensation figure when looking for a new job to asking your child to try a new food. It’s always a no if you don’t ask.
Getting to a ‘yes’ is often the desired outcome for many people in many situations, getting parents to let you stay up later as a child or getting a meeting with a target company, it’s always a no if you don’t ask.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learnt in the last 10 years, by partnering with brilliant leaders who build high performing teams and are experts at executing and delivering, is that you have to go for it, fail fast and learn, or win. Thats the worst that’s going to happen. And whether you’re pitching a new feature idea, trying to hire expert talent or gain funding…….it’s always a no, if you don’t ask.
So whatever you’d like from the Universe, it’s always a no, if you don’t ask.
